Raining. Cold. Don't want to go anywhere. There's a poetry workshop this afternoon. I could stay home. I have reasons. It's a 60-mile round trip. Gasoline is expensive. They won't miss me...I'd really LIKE to go, and I'm shampooed and dressed and I COULD go, but wouldn't I rather stay home and make an asparagus quiche? Maybe watch a Netflix? Write some stuff on my own?
Senseless! Go be with people! Support people! Support writing! Yourself you can be with any old time!

Well, I'd like to be with you at the workshop, but have a fundraiser to go to downtown. So, I will think of you as I sample wine, eat cheese, and view the skyline. Yes, go and be with people. Have a great quiche tonight.
ReplyDeleteSee ya there. I owe my poetry beginnings to that workshop, so I still show up.
ReplyDeleteToday, you're a better writer-person in the community than me. It's 1:17 pm and I only just got out of the shower...
ReplyDeleteCatherine, I was so happy to see you at the workshop today and so grateful that you'd come to give your help and support when you didn't even turn out any of your own work. Catherine, Bud, Gaye, Julia-- you've all been so helpful to me as I've tried to get my poetry-feet under me. What a wonderfully supportive arts community we have in St. Louis. Drinking an extra glass of red wine to you all! :-)
